New Building Update

Welcome to the Neuroscience Research Precinct

Neuroscience Research Precinct under construction

Designed to foster progress in science and, ultimately, patient care

In 2010, we commenced construction of a new medical research facility on our premises. This building, the first stage of the new Neuroscience Research Precinct, is due for completion in March 2012.

Our new building will provide:

  • seven floors of laboratory and clinical research space
  • capacity to house 120 researchers

The full Neuroscience Research Precinct project includes four stages of capital development and will provide facilities for 700 research staff, incorporating both Neuroscience Research Australia and Randwick Hub partners.

The Neuroscience Research Precinct will promote innovation within multidisciplinary teams of scientists and clinicians. Working side by side, their collaborative efforts will overcome today’s most pressing medical research challenges.

We have topped out!

As of 26 October 2011, the cement for the top floor has been poured and we have officially 'topped out'. Pictured here in front of the topping out tree are (l-r) Neil Coubrough, Chris Bradshaw and Prof Peter Schofield.

Help us build the Neuroscience Research Precinct

Government grants and private donations have played a critical role in funding this first stage of the precinct. The current $44m budget funds the construction of the building shell and the fit-out of two of the seven research floors. We now need to raise $15 million to transform the remaining empty floor space into vibrant, productive laboratories.

Will you help us? As an independent, not-for-profit research institute, we urgently need your support.
