Michelle is completing her PhD under the supervision of Matthew Kiernan and Steve Vucic, focusing on the pathophysiology of inherited neuropathies. For the first time, the feasibility and relevance of nerve excitability testing in children has been established. Detailed studies are presently being undertaken in spinal muscular atrophy and Machado-Joseph Disease, both hereditary disorders with motor neurone degeneration.
