With support from the National Institute of Health of the US, we are constructing an atlas of the marmoset brain. The marmoset is a primate the size of a rat, but it has a brain that is very similar to the brain of humans. Our preliminary data indicate that while rats have quite different cortex, the marmoset cortex and the human cortex is homologous (similar). Our ultimate aim is to construct an atlas of the human cortex.
