This project involves the use of developmental data to decipher the organization of the brainstem. There have been major advances in gene targeting which have significant implications for the understanding brain structure. We are collaborating with the laboratory of a scientist who won the Nobel Prize (Mario Capecchi) for construction of transgenic mice and have examined mice which reveal the location where adult brain structures were borne
