Severity rating scales and everyday life impact

As time passes, FTD can create progressive difficulties in patients. For instance, behaviours, the ability to perform some cognitive tests, and the ability to do activities can change. To date, there is not a standardised way to measure change over time in FTD. This creates difficulties in predicting the course of the condition, and can cause anxiety in families because of the lack of knowledge of disease progression. Professor Hodges is developing an instrument which will help measure such changes. This rating scale will allow professionals to give better advice to families and patients, and will permit patients and families to make adjustments to their living arrangements.
