Changing Memory, Technology and Driving Study (MemTech)

RESEARCH STUDY

DEMENTIA, DRIVING

Researchers at Neuroscience Research Australia (NeuRA) and University of New South Wales (UNSW) are looking for your input to help identify better ways of monitoring safety as drivers age or experience cognitive decline.

What is the MemTech study about?

This study will use in-vehicle devices such as GPS data loggers and dashboard cameras to accurately measure changes in safety during your everyday driving trips.

What does participation in this study involve?

If you decide to take part in this study, a researcher will arrange a visit to your home to complete a brief cognitive health questionnaire and assessment and fit your car with an in-vehicle camera with GPS. The study will require participation over a period of 6 months.

You may be a good match for this study if you:

  • Are 60 years of age or older
  • Have a current driver’s licence
  • Are the primary driver of your car
  • Drive at least 1 hour per week
  • Are available for the duration of the 6-month study period and intend to continue driving during this time
