Dementia research is vital

Bob plus kids and grandkids 768x576

Look at these happy faces. It was Christmas 2015 and Bob Rushton was surrounded by love. He was mute, incontinent, bedridden and in rapid decline, yet his children's love was unending.

Bob died of dementia. He was 53.

Nearly one million Australians will have a form of dementia - such as Alzheimer’s disease or behavioural-variant Frontotemporal dementia - by 2050. Simply put, there aren't enough of us to care for that many people. It will be the biggest expense to the health budget, and will overtake heart disease as the leading cause of death in Australia. It's the tsunami the nations not ready for.

Our fearless scientists seek to transform the lives of people like Bob and their families through medical research. And they urgently need your help.

Please donate now

Neurological disorders are the second leading cause of death worldwide. Today, there’s an estimated 487,000 Australians living with dementia – a tsunami that’s tipped to hit one million by 2058. One in 100 Australians currently live with schizophrenia. The evidence is clear. Long term support is crucial and urgently needed for medical research. Please join the fight today.
