Sydney Science Festival at NeuRA
Neuroscience in Action!
We hosted two events in August as part of the Sydney Science Festival 2017, which introduced the community and upcoming STEM students to the neuroscience research undertaken at NeuRA. The first event held on Tuesday 15th August involved local school science students for a “Behind the Brains” tour, whilst on the 17th Aug NeuRA we hosted “Train Your Mind” event including a series of seminars and exercise programs for guests.
Teenagers engage in STEM
15th Aug- Behind the Brains: Edel presented an activity on understanding pain, Prof Bilston and Bianca gave a tour through NeuRA’s Transurban road safety centre, Bart and Arkiev explained about the passive properties of muscles, and Jack took them through an activity on sensory touch of a fake arm and how the brain is tricked to interpret it – this was a huge hit with the students.
Seniors attend Train Your Mind
