Episode 15: Cannabis has antipsychotic properties and could stop neurodegeneration in Alzheimer’s disease

Dr Tim Karl and his team at NeuRA are investigating a component in the cannabis plant called cannabidiol or CBD. CBD is thought to reduce the psychoactive effects of the most well-known component of cannabis, THC.

The team has also found that CBD may be effective in treating Alzheimer’s disease. In a recent study, when mice were given CBD, they showed drastic improvements on memory related tests.
